OK....  It's day 6, remember all that gibberish I spewed about changing routes and heading to Deals Gap, blah blah blah.   Ignore all of that, I must have been delirious.

Actually the weather forecast keeps changing day by day.  This morning, it looks like storms will be hovering around the Deals Gap area for the next few days.  However, Savannah and Charleston are looking pretty good now that Beryl cleared out.   So, we are heading back toward the Southwest for a couple days to visit Savannah and Charleston as originally planned.  In short, rather than heading east from Pensacola to Jacksonville, then north to Savannah, we simply headed north to Atlanta, then east to Savannah.  This ended up allowing us to miss all the bad weather that Beryl delivered to the Jacksonville area.  I was surprised to see that this detour only cost us an additional 45 miles (not too bad).

With the weather, sore back, humidity and heat, I guess my day is still better than this fellow's.  Looks like it caught fire, and was on its way to the scrap yard.

Between Atlanta and Savannah, we saw a ton of these freight container trucks.  These are not typical trailers, they are actually a shipping container sitting on top of a trailer chassis for easy traveling on the roadway.

Once we toured Savannah on Thursday, we learned that the port in Savannah is the second largest "container" shipping port in the US.  I guess that answers where they were all heading.

Tomorrow we will spend the day wandering around Savannah.  Then we will head over to Charleston on Friday.

For today, we traveled 260 mile from Atlanta to Savannah GA.  This brings our trip total to 1878 miles. Below is a map of today's route.
