2009 SD/CO/UT Trip

We are still trying to finalize our routes at this point. However, we do know that we will be heading to South Dakota, then on to Wyoming, Colorado, and a bit of Utah. Here are some of the places and roads we will hit for sure...

• South Dakota - Deadwood (mining town where Wild Bill Hickock was murdered), Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, Custer State Park Wildlife Loop, Iron Mountain Road, Needles Highway, Spearfish Canyon, Sturgis

• Wyoming - Devil's Tower

• Colorado - Estes Park (hotel that inspired the Shining is here), Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, Various Hot Springs locations, Mount Evans (the highest paved road in the US at over 14,000 feet), Independence Pass, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Telluride, Durango, Million Dollar Highway/San Juan Skyway, Mesa Verde National Park (Pueblo Indian cliff dwelling homes carved into the mountainside).
