The word for today, RAIN.

This morning brought rain, rain, and more rain.  If that wasn't enough, it was cold too.  It's hard to complain, considering that we left home to a forecast of 12 days of rain ahead, and we have stayed dry the entire trip until this morning (day 6).

We waited until around 11:00 AM to get on the road, letting some of the heavier rains pass.  By the time we suited up and started on our way, the temperature was 58, and heading for a high of only 62.  The heated seats and grips on the bike were certainly handy today.  A little bit of rain-x on the windshield helped as well.

We had a 3.5 hour ride, and hoped that the first hour would get us clear of the rain, but that was not the case.  The rain persisted all the way to Plymouth and as I sit at the desk in our hotel room typing, the rain outside continues to pelt on the window.

Other than a traffic delay just south of Boston, which had us sitting in stop and go traffic for 30 minutes, the ride was pretty uneventful.  Wet and cold, but uneventful :)

We are fortunate to have a restaurant right next door to the hotel, so we did not have to venture back out into the rain on the bike, we simply walked to dinner.

With the wet weather, Lennie left the camera in the bike trunk leaving us with no photos from the ride today.  We hoped to get over to the harbor to see Plymouth Rock, but the rain and cold kept us at the hotel (we actually turned on the heat in our room).

The forecast for tomorrow is calling for more rain with some clearing in the afternoon.  The temperature is also supposed to be a little warmer, with a high of 68.  We'll have to decide in the morning how this might effect our plans to ride out to the tip of Cape Cod.

We covered 184 miles today traveling from Freeport Maine to Plymouth Massachusetts, taking our trip total to 1327 miles.  Below is a map of the route from today.
