Day 18, and we leave Tahoe, Reno, and too much money, behind. Since we stayed up late last night, we decided to sleep in today, giving us a later start than normal. We packed up the trailer and bike, and passed by the Circus Circus Clown one last time, then it was off to I-80 for the day.

It doesn't take long at all to escape the crowds of Reno, and find yourself in the the middle of nowhere Nevada!! This was not more than a 15 minute drive to the east of Reno.

A stop for some fuel, and we find prices starting to drop. The prices in California were in the $4.40 to $5.50 a gallon range, here in Nevada, they are down around $4.10 a gallon.

Just outside the town of Lovelock, we passed the Lovelock Correctional Center. There were signs along I-80 saying "Do not pick up hitch hikers", seems like sound advice. Interesting that they built the prison out here in the middle of nowhere?

We passed a number of vehicles on I-80 towing jet skis and small boats, then noticed this small lake off to the north of the highway. After seeing nothing but desert and mountains, this was a welcomed change of scenery.

This section of the mountain ridge had some pretty interesting coloring.

Not much else out here, so you'll have to put up with landscape photos, or choose to move on with your day :)

Ok, even I am getting bored. There is very little traffic, the cruise control is engaged, the scenery has not changed in the last 100 miles, blah, blah, blah. I guess it is amazing to see such huge expanses of land that is not over developed.

We did see a number of trucks pulling trailers with dirt bikes out in the hills. This would be a great place to play off road.

Had to post this one, since the landscape in the photo is slightly different than the other 250 Lennie shot today.

If you have not noticed by now, I love these kind of shots. I call them the "road to nowhere" shots. Nothing but empty pavement as far as the eye can see. Does the road eventually go to the left, or over the mountain pass? At least it keeps me entertained.

Getting close to our stopping point for the day. A quick pass through a short tunnel, and we reach Elko Nevada for the night. Not much in Elko, looks like a Pizza Hut for dinner kind of night :)

Tomorrow we continue toward Colorado. We should get the rest of the way across Nevada, and most of the way across Utah, stopping to the south of Park City for the night.

Today, we traveled 303 miles from Reno NV to Elko NV. This brings the trip total to 4237 miles. Below is a map of the route from today.
