Day 1 of our Southern trip has arrived.

Lennie and I were pretty well packed on Thursday evening.  Before heading off to bed on Thursday, we loaded our luggage into the trailer.  Only a few details left for Friday, then away we go.

On Friday, we both worked a half day and then took care of a few final details, like hooking the trailer up to the bike, and checking the trailer lights.

Just about ready to go, as usual, waiting for Lennie .....

As with every trip, Lennie always takes a couple photos of the bike while it's clean.  By then end of the trip, the bike and trailer gets pretty cruddy.

At precisely 2:00 PM, vacation starts, and we hit the road heading for Richwood KY (just south of Cincinnati).  With this being a holiday weekend, traffic was really heavy.  Our timing was impeccable, as we rolled into Columbus at 5:05 PM !!!  The rush hour traffic was pretty brutal, and things were pretty much bumper to bumper until we passed beyond downtown.

Once past the Columbus rush hour, there were tons of these guys everywhere !!!  The impatient drivers were providing them with plenty of revenue :)

We cruised through Cincinnati well after rush hour, unfortunately, there was a Reds game and traffic was heavy here as well.

We finally crossed the Ohio River and made our way into Kentucky.  Another 15 miles, and we arrived at our hotel for the night.

A pretty boring day as far as blog material is concerned. The goal was to simply put a few miles behind us rather than waiting until Saturday to start our trip.

Tomorrow we will make our way across Kentucky, and spend the night in Jackson Tennessee.   Like today, no real sight seeing planned, just slowly making our way toward Arkansas.

We covered 313 miles today from home to Richwood KY.  Below is a map of the route from today.
