Day-11 Jul-18-09

One word for today, HOT !!! The high for today hit 113, below is a shot of the temperature gauge on the bike showing 106 while we were at Arches National Park.

We covered about 230 miles in just over 7 hours today. We stopped for lunch in the early afternoon, and sat in the restaurant for an extra half hour just to stay cool :) It turns out that our hotel in Moab Utah is only about 3 miles from the entrance to Arches National Park. It was nice to visit the park and then only have a few minute drive back to the hotel.

Below is one of the more photographed spires in Arches park, it is called balanced rock. It does look like it might fall at any moment.

Another of the more famous arches in the park, known as delicate arch.

Not sure what this one is called, but it looked pretty neat,

This area is known as windows, as there are a ton of openings in the rocks.

Arches National Park was really cool, tons of huge spires, massive arches, and large thin slabs of rock just standing on edge in the middle of nowhere!!

There are supposedly over 2,000 documented arches in the park, ranging in size from a three-foot opening (the minimum considered to be an arch), to Landscape Arch which measures 306 feet from base to base.

Tomorrow, we head back to Colorado, near the Grand Junction area.
