Day-1 Sep-5-09

Today is day 1 of our 11 day trip to the Catskills, Vermont, and the Adirondacks. Lennie ended up being stuck at work until 7:45 PM Friday, so we were up pretty late last night getting our luggage packed and loaded into the trailer.

Speaking of trailers, Lennie talked me into purchasing a new Escapade Elite color matched trailer to pull behind the wing (well, maybe I talked her into it). The old trailer worked fine, but had a simple leaf spring suspension, and was a little bouncy on rough roads. The new trailer has an independent trailing arm suspension, with air shocks to cushion the trailer contents. It is also a little bigger, at 26 cubic feet versus our old trailer which was 20 cubic feet. Here are some shots of the new trailer...

The trailer is color matched to the bike, has some chrome trim, and a nice set of aluminum wheels. The tires are also larger than our old trailer, so it should ride smoother.

There is plenty of room in the trailer, and it even has a hanging garment bag in the lid to keep our fancy dress duds from getting wrinkled :) You can't tell from the photos, but it also has a storage compartment built into the floor that carries a spare tire. Also, the taillights that the manufacturer uses are actually real Honda Goldwing taillights, to match the bike styling.

Today's ride was pretty boring, as it consisted of all highway riding to get us over to the Catskills area. We traveled from home to Johnson City NY. In the morning, we will have a short ride over to the Catskills State Park.
