May 29 Day 2

Day 2 brought us more boring highway miles.  We traveled from Carrollton Kentucky to Tuscaloosa Alabama today.   We covered about 464 miles, leaving the Hampton around 9:40 AM, and arriving at the Candlewood Suites in Tuscaloosa Alabama around 5:45 PM (we are now in the Central time zone).

We passed through Louisville KY, Nashville TN, and Birmingham AL.  Once we hit the Alabama state line, we were threading the needle through a number of bad storms.  Our Zumo GPS has real-time Nexrad radar, and we could watch on the GPS screen as we passed the storms to the east and west.  Here is a screen shot from the GPS near Birmingham.

Below is a screen shot from the Accuweather site on my netbook once we got into the hotel room.  We just beat out the storms.  We pulled in, unpacked the trailer, covered the bike, headed up to our room, and the rain rolled in.  We are right on the Tuscaloosa dot !  We could not have asked for better timing.

Tommorrow we head through Mississippi, Louisiana, and on to Terrell Texas, which is just outside of the Dallas area.  Hopefully we will stay dry on the way !
