Last night we ate dinner at Skyline Chili which was just across the street from our hotel. Not a very exciting dinner, but we are in the Cincinnati area, so... Another benefit is that with the indigestion that Skyline brings, you can enjoy it another couple of times later in the evening :)

For day 2, we made our way across Kentucky and into Tennessee. Our route took us through Louisville, and Bowling Green Kentucky, then on through Nashville Tennessee, ending in Jackson Tennessee.

Like yesterday, we are simply clicking of highway miles making our way to Arkansas and then down to Pensacola Florida in the panhandle. This means a lack of exciting sights to see. Traffic was much lighter today, as I imagine that anyone heading out for a long weekend had already made it to their destinations?

We got stuck for a while behind these guys. The fellow in the back looks like he could use something to eat! I am no expert on farm animals, but I hope these guys are milking cows, because based on those ribs, you sure couldn't make many steaks with him.

We ran into these fellows at the gas station. I bet they were not too fond of being cramped up in that trailer with the 95 degree weather we are having. I am always amazed watching horses travel like this, mostly by the fact that they can stand so long, and they don't fall down on rough roads or stop and go traffic.

It's interesting that from Cincinnati all the way down to Louisville Ky, you are only a mile from Indiana. Until you look at a map, you don't realize how far south and west Indiana extends. The bridge below crosses the Ohio river into Indiana, and is just outside of Louisville. The little crap that amuses you when traveling down the highway :)

We did run into a bunch of construction around Louisville, which created a little slow going for about a 15 mile stretch. Although slow, at least traffic continued to move, which is always better than stop-and-go on the bike (feet down, feet up, feet down, feet up).

With temperatures in the mid 90's and the humidity up pretty high, the biggest issue with the construction was the lack of wind while moving so slowly.

I wasn't aware that Kentucky had it's own little Jurassic Park. I was really excited, until I saw the bottom of the sign ("You just missed us"). Perhaps next time we pass through the area...

Every time I see a T-Rex, with it's humongous head, and teeny tiny little arms, it makes me think of Kirstin Wiig on Saturday Night Live doing the baby hands skit.

After some lunch, we made our way across the Tennessee border. A quick shot through Nashville, and it was smooth sailing to our destination of Jackson for the day.

Between Nashville and Jackson, we crossed the southern tip of Kentucky Lake. With the high air temps, the lake looked pretty inviting. Kind of makes me miss our boating days. When we owned boats, we often talked about heading over to Kentucky Lake, but always opted for Lake Cumberland with it's shorter drive.

All in all a good traveling day. I would have been happy with 15 degree lower temps, but at least there was no rain.

Tomorrow we will make our way through Memphis, then pop into Arkansas. Arkansas is one of the remaining 4 states we need to travel to on the bike. Our stay in Arkansas will be short, likely just getting some gas and eating lunch, then heading on toward Florida.

We covered 394 miles today from Richwood KY to Jackson TN. This brings our trip total to 707 miles.  Below is a map of today's route.
